Here's the remarkable coincidence that allows us to see total solar eclipses: the diameter of the Moon is 400 times smaller than the diameter of the Sun, but it is also 400 times closer to us.pic.twitter.com/fp8rVQ94Ad

Anthropic principle: That relation in size and distance allows a nice rotation (needed for life cycles) and tidal waves (driven force of early life) etc. So, while rare in the universe, is not rare that we are here as for to be alive we need to live in a habitable world.
That's the idea! That we can see clearly the fact that there had to be a creator behind all this perfection in the universe we live in. The heavens declare the glory of God; and the firmament sheweth his handywork. Psalms 19:1 KJV
It's not that big a coincidence. The moon has an eliptical orbit and its apparent diameter varies quite a bit. When the moon is small/distant we get annular eclipses where the moon can't cover the sun, which shows as a thick ring all round the moon.
