Similar happened to me while I was cycling in suburban Essex couple of summers ago - lunatic intentionally tried to undertake and force me to cycle in front of oncoming traffic on wrong side of road before trying to run me over. Terrifying!
-
Crikey, that second paragraph is a near-identical encounter

Don’t know about you but the quality of tarmac really is a bugbear for me, esp at the curb side where “we” cyclists tend to ride. More often than not the tarmac is rough as f*ck, making for a buzzing, jarring ride on my Brompton.

I agree, after two weeks on mostly silky smooth tarmac in Germany, it is quite a contrast to be back in Manchester with its roads often resembling the rough surface of the moon. No wonder mountainbikes are so popular here as urban cycles.

Good piece. I may regret this but luckily the only time I’m concerned about getting hit whilst on my bike is ironically when I’m on Twitter.

When I regularly cycled, a busy right hand turn in traffic would be a cue for me to pull over onto the curb, get off and push my bike across various pedestrian crossings.
-
I don't generally cycle in traffic, that stretch was an unavoidable exception. Though for a central London A road it's pretty quiet.
