Trump didn't appoint Fauci, he's been in that position since Reagan.

I don't like Fauci much and definitely don't like Trump but he's not a Trump appointee in the same way, say, Barr is. He's worked in public health since... Reagan?

“Trump appointed Fauci”? Did he? Dude’s been around. Unless you’re talking about some hyperspecific appointment to some committee or something, this is just wrong.
-
I see, other appointees are just summoned together from immaterial substances and never existed or worked in their field before that.

Fauci has been Director of NIAID since 1984. President Bush awarded him the Presidential Medal of Freedom in 2008. He's not viewed as a Trump appointee, regardless of the task force Trump put him on.

I'm not sure the left wing does - in fact I've seen excellent critical writing from leftists on the matter. Liberals do, because older American liberal culture is that West Wing elite institutionalism where there's nothing better than a high-qualified-seeming person in charge.

By comparison, here's a take by a leftist writer, Sam Adler-Bell, which is quite perceptive and critical:https://www.thedriftmag.com/the-case-against-fauci/ …
