I had never thought of this effect, involving citation of scientific papers, but, huge if true. Note the disturbingly high factor of 153!!https://ucsdnews.ucsd.edu/pressrelease/a-new-replication-crisis-research-that-is-less-likely-be-true-is-cited-more …

Now, consider that researchers who are cited more are considered more influential and have higher prestige. Is the modern environment set up to prestige the worst researchers?

No worries. This is really interesting, so if the findings are correct Bayes Rule implies they won't replicate.

Do you see the irony of sharing this research? It interesting, you shared it, but is it also true?

It's almost like on GitHub, star count tells you nothing about the quality of the project, but everyone uses it as a metric ..

Along with update history, because you definitely want the code where bugs keep popping up.

        > don’t hold up when other researchers try to repeat the experiments How large is the effect of (missing) expertise when trying to replicate a paper? Usually the first authors tinker around a lot and have a lot of knowledge about specific details that are often missing in papers.

Papers as they are published today are in no way aimed at assisting in how to replicate a result, too many details are missing. Maybe if review processes were changed to include this, more could be replicated. At least in stem, social science / econ could be different
