My first instinct was to disagree, but it's an interesting thought - what could I do to change the state of things? What apps could be done better natively? How could I help people make such apps easier? Something to think about I guess…

For example: Why do people think they need this huge stack including "containers" just in order to run programs? Why can't they more readily and easily just run native programs?

Yes but not really because it's always been (and still is) possible to build rich interactive UI on the web that does not consume more resources than it needs.

yeah, i feel this way about electron. people turn to it for lack of good cross platform guis. that is our fault, collectively.

I can name a few fantastic better-than-Typescript transpilers, that reduce the commonly occurring web bloat, but the real culprit is the culture of advertising and tracking; when you don't pay for a product, you are the product; and it's all the tracking that is costing so much
