Also no one would listen to us at Intel anyway. So if no one's going to listen to us, it seems better to be ignored on Twitter than ignored at Intel, because Twitter doesn't have mandatory employee orientations, meetings, etc. (Yet?)

People listen, but you're ranting at the pointy exposed tip of the iceberg. That isn't the problem. Chip that off and a new point rolls to the surface. You should come dive into the depths and understand the fundamentals - they're fascinating!

Ah yes, we can always count on Tom for the condescension.

Jesus Casey. Welp, you get the same rules as everyone else - gratuitous personal abuse gets you muted. Enjoy!

(I mean clearly Casey was the person feeling personally abused first, and I see why.)

Perhaps that's true, but I do feel Tom was attempting to be tongue in cheek here. I was genuinely surprised to see any sort of animosity like that. If I may ask, did you feel abused at all? Genuinely curious.

I felt it was somewhat offensive, but, also, it looks to me like the excuse-making that almost everyone does when it comes to these matters, and I have long ago drawn conclusions about how poorly I regard that excuse-making, so, I just mentally set the bit on the conversation.

I don't think you come out of this very well. Sound very (passive) aggressive, especially to
@trishume who was trying to engage in good faith. Not sure what's going on, but it wasn't nice to read.

I have just heard a lot of people make the same excuses and I have no patience for it. If people want to cultivate poor results for themselves, that’s their choice I guess, but I get annoyed when they tell me I should think in ways that clearly produce poor results.

“Other people decide how things are and I can’t do anything about it” is a very anti-engineering attitude.
