No, it’s just, I get the sense very quickly that the author knows basically nothing about doing science and engineering research. Why should I listen to that person on that topic then.

I’m more sanguine. I think that people who are not practitioners can still make useful contributions evaluating the assumptions of a system. I realize though that is a central conceit of philosophy majors, of which I’m one.
