have to engage in endless hacks that almost but don't quite solve the problem, like everyone does today.

I think there's misunderstanding here, I'm not trying to say the current situation is required or necessary. I'm saying right now it's the best we've got, flawed as it is, and that blaming the users of the tool for its flaws is in this case misdirected (unless clearly misused).

From my perspective, if you want to talk about how to actually improve the situation, I've got plenty of ideas and plans, but that won't fit in an already long twitter thread. I can tell you all about it over a beer some day.

That's ok. I agree with a lot what you've said here and in the past, I'd just prefer this was directed at folks who have a direct way of influencing it. Like Google, Mozilla, etc. You have a lot of knowledge and a platform to share it, and I think it would have more impact.
