I'm not sure what you mean. Give me a UI framework that does all the basics better and faster, and I'll use it. I'm not defending the browser stack by any means.

I definitely agree with that. Take a look at the *base* HTML node: https://developer.mozilla.org/en-US/docs/Web/API/HTMLElement … That doesn't begin to even describe everything that goes on underneath the hood, and that's literally just the base element. Even Flash was more lightweight.

The point is exactly that something like this is totally insane and needs to be redesigned with engineering foresight and simplicity, robustness and performance as first goals.
