Several popular mobile browsers in China already work like this. Google had a similar initiative internally, but I think it's been scrapped. It's a privacy nightmare.

Absolutely, I *hope* this will totally fail. Though given one of Chrome's distinguishing features originally was putting each tab in a process for better isolation, maybe what we need is a cloud product that puts every tab in its own VM.

They'll make it work, it is a golden opportunity to get between the user and their desktop and move it all into a walled garden.
