Looking on Netflix, every sci-fi show has the tag "Dystopian". I suspect there is a very big opportunity for a show-runner who can imagine stepping outside that mold.

I was pretty sad Amazon cancelled the Consider Phlebas adaptation
Consider Phlebas is the first Culture novel I read, and I found it very annoying / dumb and it made me not want to read more.

Oof. It's not the best one, but it's good to read it first (because you don't know the Culture are ostensibly the good guys). I really recommend Use Of Weapons, if you feel like giving Banks another try.

Yeah maybe? I started reading Player of Games and that also started to make me very angry, so I just stopped reading the series.
