I am not medically knowledgeable, but my guess would be that when a large proportion of vulnerable people is known to have been vaccinated, you start to see lots of younger, less vulnerable people going out and socializing more.

this is just an anecdote, but photos my relatives took in tel aviv showed unmasked partygoers, and that was pre-vaxxi. my suspicion would be that after the vaccine was rolled out, the sabras were even more proximate than then.

They may also be more meticulous with testing and catch a greater percentage of infections (and even related deaths)...

The infected per day data is dependent on the total tests done. Death per case ratio is 7.6% for California and 0.66% for Israel (7-day moving average). This may be the cause of that.

The cases are not uniformly spread. We have some populations that are not vaccinated and don't follow guidelines which push the numbers up. We also started the vacc operation in a bad state.
