Even as a full-time enthusiast Linux user (emphasis on user, not fixer) this is my problem with it. Most of Linux is great and immensely powerful but like 10% of the experience is pure garbage and taints everything else. And there’s no realistic way to “just fix it”.

I only fix problems I see. I would be pleased to fix your "resuming" bug, unfortunately my hardware is different from yours and it "resumes" fine. I bet that if a kernel dev or gnome dev had these issue on its machine, you never had to get bored or upset with such problem.

Because software gets good when people invest time and money into it. Nobody has put the time and money into Desktop Linux in anywhere the same capacity as Mac and Windows. This isn't Linux's fault.

I would propose the government pay a huge grant to make it competitive because there is no other way to make that investment. The private sector failed to provide the resources necessary for Desktop Linux.
