I get the worst responses from programmers when I bring these things up. They tend to insist there must be some Good Reason™ everything is so slow. Surely it's justified somehow.
isn't this due to avoiding "premature optimization"? if the app runs and technically does the task (which is hard enough for software teams to ship on time/budget), then it's a luxury to have resources to optimize away longish loading times that consumers often don't care about
