The fact that nobody even remarks upon this kind of thing, in fact everyone expects it, is a sign of how crazy bad productivity is in our “tech” companies and yet nobody sees this. It is straight-up crazy.

Very low productivity seems to be a surprising fact of the contemporary economy as a whole. Job descriptions and perceptions have in the service of patronage taken on a life of their own, quite divorced from actual production.

I read “Bullshit Jobs” and saw that Graeber’s basic observations are clearly correct, but I didn’t buy most of his explanations. But, oh yeah, I believe we talked about this.
