Twitter just auto-reloaded in its "new style" for me and it's ***terrible***. Maybe this will be enough to get me to stop using it.

You can use (link: https://tweetdeck.twitter.com/ ) https://tweetdeck.twitter.com for a more optimized desktop experience, but I find it overwhelming personally when there's too much to track on the screen at once.

Twitter is already just too dumb to bother with 2/3 of the time, this might just be the last straw involved in making it write-only for me. I don't want to have to invest effort into figuring out how to use a gossip platform.

if you don't follow that many ppl and carefully curate it's no big deal.

They borrowed Microsoft's guide "How to make your desktop look like your phone and ruin the experience for everyone"

one tweet takes up about 1,600,00 pixels on your screen (vertically)

I complain about this a lot. I'm told "Use Tweetdeck!" which only has one column I care about all the time, and one (notifications) sometimes. It's silly we're getting this 1997 Fisher Price My First Web UI mess.

It's incomprehensible. Why would anybody push simulation of a shitty mobile app to ppl with so much screen estate? Not to mention that everything now has to load and animate and it feels awful to perform most basic tasks. How someone this incompetent gets to call shots on this?

I don't know how you're still using the default client. It doesn't show new tweets in the right order (or at all). Tweetdeck is the only alternative, due to the ridiculous api limitations that obly twitter itself can bypass.

Tweetdeck requires minimal setup to be functional and on a mere 2M pixel screen I get about 40 tweets (most with pictures). Also no BS with tweet order nor "this might interest you". So if you plan to keep reading stuff on twitter imho this is the way to go.

I get the feeling that, for the last decade or so, its becoming more common to lose features with each upgrade we get on a piece of software.
