          As Jon says, the culture is the deeper problem. Easier to start with fresh and capable minds than to change those hardened in their ways. Funny how it only took about _a single generation_ of programmers to fuck this up.

          I think it's at least 3, with of course a lot of overlap. But, no way am I part of the current generation of 20-something Google employees, but neither am I of Ken Thompson's generation.
