I'm currently attempting to use ffmpeg to create a version with only the right channel — first time messing with this library (or anything to do with video/audio files), so we'll see when it's done processing

(I'm surprised people are reporting Russian on the right channel — I listened the low-tech one-earbud way and heard no Russian.)

It might be a software thing! Like maybe some people have interfaces that let them mute a channel, and other people are turning 'balance' to the right channel, which actually puts both channels into the right. Or something. I don't even know if my computer has the ability to

mute channels selectively (and I tried for 10 minutes, and I have been a professional programmer for life). If the source recordings do have separate channels that's good news...

Could you upload that audio somewhere? Really interested in this talk, + I'd be willing to do the mix and send it back / upload it. Tried to fiddle with original audio track but isolating voices is hard.
