Economies of scale dictate that as firms get bigger and become near-monopolies, they'll capture more value, costs will fall, and these firms will eventually become profitable.

Flipkart: Unprofitable. 
Swiggy and Zomato: Unprofitable.

Maybe it's time we liberate startups from valuations they can never hope to hold on to—especially if these are imposed on them by VCs during the great fattening so that they stand to gain the most when these firms go public.

Great story here by on how PhonePe's superpower is that it owns the entire UPI stack. But that aside, interesting infographic I found inside - Google Pay runs a much beter P&L ship though. Making 67cr profits while PhonePe makes 2014 cr loss.
