No, he asked Dumbledore for help at first because he knew that if Voldemort tried to kill the baby then he would kill Lily, too. None of it was ever out of concern for Harry. And he hated Harry from the first day in school. So there was nothing self-serving about opposing Vold.

he asked dumbledore for help & DD AGREED ONLY IF HE WOULD TURN SPY IN RETURN. it's not even his Choice to begin w the very fact tt "None of it was ever out of concern for Harry" is exactly why it was self-serving, sir. ask urself if he woulda done the same if lily never existed

Oh plz don't call me sir. I'm just a regular person.
He turned spy at first because D. demanded it. But that was a long time ago. He had no self-serving reason for continuing to spy 15 years or whatever later. There was no Unbreakable Spell. Lily was gone and he hated...1 reply 0 retweets 0 likes -
Harry. So what was the motive to keep playing for the good guys unless it was (i) Because he was an honourable man who kept his promises, (ii) his love for Lily endured and he did it out of love?

what was the motive to keep playing for the canonically most powerful wizard i.e. the only one who could actually protect him from Voldy's wrath if he were ever found out to be a spy?? gee. no idea "love" is not innocence. again, would he have done the same if lily never existed

1. Well how about this. 16 years ago you agreed to spy on the most powerful dark wizard, but you didn't have to because before you knew it he was gone. Bullet dodged! 2. Now he has come back and he doesn't know you agreed to spy on him. And you have the power to prevent him from

ever finding out b/c he can't read your mind. What's the safest course of action? Start spying NOW? Or just join the bad guys who are probably going to win anyway and you're safe. And V. isn't going to trust Dumbledore. Besides, Dumbledore didn't hold up his end b/c Liliy died.

1. snape was alr spying on V BEFORE lily died. the whole point of him agreeing to be a spy was his desire to keep her alive. whatchu talkin bout he "didn't have to" bc voldy was conveniently poofed the second he said "yeh i'll spy 4 u dumbledore" lmao that's just not true at all

2. he didn't have the "power to prevent him from finding out" cos ya you can occlumens your ass off all day but you can't exactly stop someone else from selling you out if they wanted to 3. dd did what he could to hold up his end, how you gon blame him for peter's betrayal
