I just got a piece of junk mail that concerns me. It’s the standard “YOU WERE A FORMER NFL PLAYER LET US GET YOU YOUR CTE MONEY BUY STONKS NOW,” but that’s not what’s concerning. What’s concerning is that it has my current address on it, and here’s why.

This is a picture of the small print disclaimer hidden under a flap of the cheaply printed paper this thing came on. Note the helpfully underlined “This information was received via public records from the state of Florida.”pic.twitter.com/eB4hRtD7L3

Now, I played a couple games in Florida during my NFL career, but I was living at a different address. This junk mail got sent to my current address, which is a house we moved into well after I left the league. This leaves me with one conclusion.

Either the NFL or the NFLPA is registered in the state of Florida in a way that leaves the ENTIRE playerbase’s personal address information available to any yahoo that knows how to look. This, uh, might be a problem. I’m a Z-list celebrity, at best. Others are not.
