    An update for the Cydia version of ProTube is out now (v1.12.5). The update fixes video downloads and fixes a crash when saving videos to the camera roll.

    And I don't have any device still on 11.3 so I couldn't jailbreak even if I wanted to. Missing the glory days of jailbreaking

    I've gotten a lot of questions asking if I'll update Bridge for iOS 11. I'd love to, but not until a proper jailbreak for iOS 11 is released. I don't have any intentions on using Electra.

    The Electron hate is so much fun to watch, from a group of people protecting a development platform in a complete death spiral. If you need to be mad at someone, be mad at Apple and their incredibly lack luster tooling in 2018. Only they can do this.

    ProTube (Cydia version) 1.12.4 is out with a fix for downloads, as well as improved ad blocking :) Sorry for the long delay for the download fix!

    It‘s also so awesome to see how many people are still using the app even though it‘s been taken off the App Store close to 3 months ago. It‘s still working perfectly, no update needed :)

    ProTube launched on the App Store 3 years ago! In total people used the app for over 1000 years and watched more than 150m videos since then. It‘s been a good run 🙂 I would have loved to keep it up on the store, but I‘m still so proud of what the app achieved!

    Still bummed that ProTube is gone from the iOS App Store – is there really no way to watch 4K or 60fps YouTube videos on iOS? 😓

    Using ProTube you can play a video in 4k and then AirPlay it to an Apple TV and it uses h.264. This is just part of Google's codec war, trying to force VP9 on everybody. Too bad Google killed ProTube :(

    There are many news articles saying that Apple TV 4k can't play 4k YouTube videos because it does not support the VP9 codec. YouTube 4k videos also exist as h.264 streams so they can be played. The actual reason is that YouTube has not updated their app to play h.264 4k videos.

    I did some open source work and finally released a major update for JGProgressHUD. Some bug fixes, improved layout and animations and a bunch of new features! iOS devs should definitely check it out :)

    ProTube 2.5.9 is available in the App Store now. It adds a workaround for a bug in the YouTube API that caused some feeds to fail loading.

    I'm aware of the "The data could not be read" error message in ProTube. It's a bug on YouTube's side and I hope they will fix it soon 😑
