I think it boils down to that this impeachment is a very partisan affair. Impeachment won't sway a Trump supporter, so these Dems are basically giving up their jobs come 2020. I agree though that they are not "defying" their constituents. Just not agreeing with them most likely.

McCarthy and you forget or don't want to know that many of those constituents changed their mind, or were swamped out by people opposed to Trump... which is precisely why those districts went BLUE in 2018. Begging the question by pointing to 2016

Another way to look at this is, two years after those voters sent Trump to the White House, they so regretted their decision that they elected a democrat in the midterms to hold the corrupt president in check. Sounds like the Dem is meeting their expectations.
