Bork wasn't voted down because of the Nixon stuff as all of these sudden "experts" keep claiming. He was widely seen as one of the intellectual giants of the legal community right up until he was nominated for Scotus. Yes "revenge for Nixon" was part of liberal opposition.... 4/

But that wasn't it. Bork's nomination was killed because he was so qualified not because he wasn't. He was persuasive, conservative and enemy of the "living Constitution" and that made him a threat. That's why Democrats and Biden caved to activists. 5/

But they did reject Bork and decades of partisan asininity, tribalism and rage-politics ensued. The voting down of Bork didn't cause all of it, but it started it. And Biden should apologize for his cowardice and hackery at the time. fin.
