1) Those features are actually granfathered in. 2) I COMPLETELY disagree with the sentiment. External links are a (relatively) new feature, and should be EARNED & unlocked. 3) Potential abuse with links is VERY high; it needs restrictions. 4) Description boxes still work :-)
Am I the only one who actually LIKES @TeamYouTube's decision to (re)raise the #PartnerProgram requirements to 1,000 subs / 4,000 hours?

If you're in it for the money, you're in it for the wrong reasons. Not grandfathering in existing partners is a mistake - but this is a good decision.

I think it sucks most for people who make one incredibly successful viral video that now have no way to monetize it (unless there's something I don't know about how the system works).

4,000 watch hours a year isn't much for a viral video... Like, the first episode my
#Myst lets play scored just around that much in 2017; and it is definitely NOT a "viral" video. - 1 more reply

I was livid last night, but I didn't really give myself time to think because I was so used to YouTube pulling shit on everyone for no reason. Now that I think of it, this won't really be a problem as long as small YouTubers stay motivated and strive for excellence.
