And the economic case is that free access to the EU is considerably more valuable than free access to the UK. In 1973 Ireland, economically, could not have joined the EU without the UK doing so and could not have survived outside if the UK joined alone. The SM has changed that.
And once that tax haven status is revoked by QMV it's over.
The only logical reason for Ireland "rejoining" is it makes Brexit easier. Given that is a clusterf**k of an idea economically why would any sane self-interest dictate we facilitate it.
The only dictator here is the Commission. Unelected yet representing Ireland like a governor in Brexit.
