It's now about four hours since Theresa May told PMQs that Albert Thompson would get "the treatment that he needs” for cancer. But no one seems to know whether this will mean hospital treatment. Most importantly, Thompson himself is still in the dark.

If that's the case, why would May say it was happening before Thompson himself has been told?

Anyway, if a patient has publicly said he seeks treatment x but is being made to pay for it, it's not breaking confidentiality to say, "We're happy to say he can get treatment x without being charged."
