It´s called travel insurance. Go to Florida, Tunsia, Egypt. We´ll cope, assuming the UK doesnt just pay it on our behalf unilaterally...NOTHING STOPPING IT. So yes, it´s bullshit
it really is member state specific so would depend on their rules re: social insurance if you moved there to work. Also if the closest hospital is NOT government owned or run it wont accept ehic usually. Hence insurance essential for full range of options.

Obvs it would depend on how each member structures it's healthcare provision. But are you saying that there would not be the scope for EU members to charge nonEU (i.e. UK) more than EU citizens? Do they not charge more already? Pretty sure UK does.

NHS is state run and populist hence the 150% surcharge. I personally find it unethical. Most EU countries dont have state run healthcare pricing.
