I didn’t need to go through the paperwork, the cost and the time of getting British citizenship as EU citizenship was enough to legally settle in the U.K.

Do you realise that not all countries recognise dual nationality - Spain for example? So if they had decided to become a UK citizen they would have had to give up their current passport and due to Brexit they would now be losing their EU citizenship - which you are also losing.

Spain allows dual nationality as long as Spaniards who have obtained another nationality sign a declaration to affirm their intention to keep Spanish nationality too.pic.twitter.com/JvaZ4m77ts

Thanks, I'll have to read up on Spain and dual nationality, as I had thought they didn't. My overall point still stands though that the decision on whether to apply for citizenship can be very complicated. And as EU citizens in UK (member state) little need to do so until Brexit.

Yes, no point in acquiring another EU nationality unless one would want to be involved in politics (including voting) or in certain jobs in the civil service. Many EU countries are changing their restrictions in dual nationality in the wake of Brexit, i.e. Germany.

Again, you don’t need British citizenship to be integrated and having British citizenship doesn’t guarantee integration. Besides, in the EU there is the concept of EU citizenship, which up to now the U.K. has been part of.

EU citizenship is something that matters to many people, obviously not to you. Similarly they are many Scottish and Irish in NI who don’t feel they are British citizens.

What they "feel" is irrelevant. I could "feel" the law did not apply to me. Yet it does.
