This doesn’t bode well for the medical profession. Apparently she was covering 3 doctors and numerous wards and the computer system was down

and the mother administered a drug without the knowledge of any of the HCP present.

This is untrue. Nurses knew the mother gave the prescribed enalipril; it's Bawa-Garba's failing that she didn't clearly communicate this med had stopped.pic.twitter.com/vT4b6XMvxs

How on Earth can any doc be responsible for a relative giving medications unless she instructed them to do so? Is it not assumed that in hospital, with a Kardex, that clinical staff do that? One can only knowingly control what is known, at most.

I'm responding to the incorrect point that none of the HCPs knew enalipril was given. That's untrue, they did know. I'm also pointing out that the courts have commented on Bawa-Garba's communication around stopping the medication.

Absolutely not clear from that text what was known to the medical staff. Or who that medical staff was.. given that Dr Bawa-Garba was the only Dr around. Nurses are clinical staff...messy language

I'm not sure why this is complicated. You said "and the mother administered a drug without the knowledge of any of the HCP present." - nurses are HCPs, and they knew the drug was given. You were factually incorrect. If you meant "without Dr BG's knowledge" we'd agree.

fair enough. Important imo is: Dr BG explicitly discontinued the drug. what other HCP knew didn't know is not clear. Nurses are not medics and text refers to medics so no idea who that is supposed to be in this context. imprecision matters.
