The choice before us (if we Brexit): (1) Norway - no economic damage, but no say (2) Trade deal - no coverage for over 70pc of what UK does The idea that’s what people voted for in 2016 isn’t just ridiculous, it’s offensive.https://twitter.com/los_fisher/status/954088871528226818 …

Nonsense. The claim that the Single Market/EEA is necessary for or even boosts trade in services is wrong. There is no single market in services.

Services account for 80% of UK economy but just 40% of our exports to EU. Why ? Because there is no single market in services.

It’s the businesses that do export that generate the greater proportion of the economy

That still doesn’t explain the discrepancy of 40% versus 80% - which suggests barriers to trade in EU despite all the claims made for the Single Market.

it’s unquestionably easier for British companies to sell services into EU than other parts of the world. The fact the single market in services is not complete *yet* is a daft argument for leaving it for arrangements with other counties that don’t and won’t cover services at all.

1) "Unquestionably" = blind assumption based on received knowledge, with no analysis or examination. You need to explain how services trade will be blocked outside EEA.

You should sit in on the meetings I have with unions, manufacturers, insurance, financial, medical, science, academic, pharmaceutical sectors. It’s ridiculous to pretend they can operate cross-border as freely outside the EU as within it. They’re not fantasists.

So why can't you make your case then ? Explain how services trade is impacted outside EEA.

Depends on the sector as to what benefits them more. Examples include qualification recognition, easier insurability, free movement for staff, shared company law & licenses, greater ease of funding, tax reporting, harmonised technical standards, barrier-free supply chains

Car insurance still isnt harmonised and is far more useful to the bulk of the EU workers than rail directives. Qualifications recognition precludes professional language assessment, which is unfair for British patients.
