I'm very worried about this situation, by the way, and don't welcome it one bit. Am hoping Dublin rhetoric will have effect then cool

Its a risky play when both An Taioseach and PM are governing on small numbers. Genies are not easily bottled

Again, I think Brexiteers misunderstand Ireland. Brexit is a big issue in Ireland, sure but isn't provoking nationalist backlash

But UK's failure to come up w/any real border plan has given a new Taoiseach a free hit. Which he has taken. Might backfire but will not

They need a deal with the EU outlined. Of course Dublin could get a deal with the EU to solve all this too. Treaties allow for it

it's more than just 'need to deal w/EU first'. Dublin is scared stupid by lack of prep/ideas from London.

Ireland could ask to leave the customs union. That would solve a lot if they joined ours, as we do with the CFA.

Politically this is almost impossible IMO. Uk votes to take back control and solution for Ireland is to do opposite? Unsellable

It is practical if not palatable politically. Ireland in the customs union without the UK really makes no sense
