The Scottish Conservative party is already conceding an SNP majority in May? Do Mark and Douglas endorse this view, Hen?

Despite the hysterical allegations of some of A4U's more committed partisans, Dave, I'm not a Scottish Conservative spokesman.

I'm not seeing any hysteria, Hen. Just a concession from you. Seeing as you believe an SNP majority is certain due to their "popularity", how many seats do you expect the Conservatives to lose without the Ruth factor?

I've got no reason to doubt the ranges offered by the polls, although I am sceptical about the 'Ruth factor'. And if you don't see any hysteria, does that mean you agree with those who say I'm rubbishing A4U on the Tories' orders?https://www.conservativehome.com/thecolumnists/2019/08/post-ruth-politics-the-battle-over-her-legacy-will-shape-the-future-of-the-scottish-tories.html …

I haven't seen anyone saying this. I did, however, see you instructing my colleague to "sort it out" after I asked if Mark McInnes still wants A4U's endorsement of his candidates. You appeared to be acting in a position of some authority then or were you just shooting the breeze?

Then you haven't been paying attention. I said she needed to sort it out, which was certainly true, since you were threatening to base endorsements on being nice to A4U and she wasn't aware that was the case.

Oh, I paid attention. There was no threat, just an offer to withdraw our endorsement if that's what Mark preferred. Cue outrage from you for daring to suggest Conservative trolls' behaviour might be discouraging...guess what? Tactical voting! But then you think it doesn't exist.

I don't think tactical voting doesn't exist, I think unionist unity doesn't work. Those are not the same proposition, and if you can't get your head around that it explains a lot about A4U's tactical vote offer.

Yes, so you said. Unionist division is the way forward. Not in May, of course, because the SNP is just too darned popular and so an SNP majority is inevitable. You really have come up with some belters this morning, Hen. I'm sure more will follow as the day progresses.

You have demonstrated no pathway to a unionist majority either, Dave, you just say it can only be delivered in the constituencies and then try and avoid any blame by not contesting the constituencies. It's feeble.

On the contrary, the pathway to a unionist majority was laid down at the very start. The main parties should have picked one PPC per constituency. That was how to win quickly in constituencies. They circled the wagons and fought for scraps, but they could have won big.

That just once again runs aground on the fact that Labour and LD voters are not simply 'unionist voters', are alienated by the Conservatives, and the former in particular are much happier switching to the SNP. So only a fantasy was laid down.

So they didn't bother even piloting the idea? The last 5 years has been fought mainly on unionist/nationalist grounds. It's all the Tories ever talk about. So why stand against Lib Dems in Edinburgh Western?
