A 4% NHS pay rise is not a bribe. The SNP have read the room on this. There has been low wage increases in the NHS for a long time. Yes it means in theory less money to spend elsewhere, but one has to factor in the cost of the loss of staff to other sectors as the econ recovers.
It's not public vs private. To say because some workers have been badly treated by the gov, that others dont get a pay rise. They should, and the others should be treated much better.

It’s not the Gov who’s treated some workers badly, we’ve just been through a pandemic and I’ll tell you this : Every NHS worker I personally know has stuck 2 fingers up at lockdown rules from the outset. Every single one of them whilst me and mine have been “saving the NHS”.

It is public v private when you (as you have done) raise the issue of staff retention. Nurses are certainly not considering leaving the NHS to go work in the private nursing home sector or even the charitable sector. Pay and conditions are far better in the NHS.

Of course it's public vs private, as the private sector pays for public. I finished the year with a pay cut, but was pleased to finish it still employed.

I have a Daughter who’s a Doctor, one a Nurse and my son works for the NHS office based. They’ve already had a £500 bonus. Laughing all the way to the bank now. It won’t change their voting intentions, however.

When the private sector is left suffering because the money that was allocated to support them is then spent on one specific area of the public sector, it very much becomes public vs private. This is the issue, not that they don't deserve the pay rise.
