2. Spain is the realm of the Spanish Crown. That's all it is. That is what defines it. There is no scope for any part of Spain to cede, nor is there for any US state. Wars have been fought over this. It's important.

3. Spain is a former colonial power with limited reach and sees the EU as its way back into the club. It favours EU expansion so long as the member states remain whole. As long as Spain is Spain, it wants the EU to grow. Four decades of history confirms this.

8. Spain would only block Scotland's accession to the EU if it did not recognise Scottish independence. It can and will continue to stonewall Catalan nationalists because it can and would LOL at why the UK buckled so easily. Seriously, do some history.

Spain wouldn’t need to block Scotland, because the SNP’s currency policy would disqualify us from joining anyway. Meanwhile the SNP currency group convenor openly tweets that he’d prefer to join EFTA instead of EU and SNP now talk of “Europe” not “EU”. It’s a con.

Meaningless. The SNP are a shower of lying shits and so all that matters is what they sign on paper. What they say is havers. If an independent Scotland wants to join the EU it will. It will be costly and will mean giving up independence. But Scotland could do it. No doubt.
