"Equal blood" rubbish is based on those with esteem issues. MSM are high risk for a whole host of reasons. Which medical orgs and patients grounds lobbied for this? None. Politicisation of patient safety will end very very badly.

People with high risk lifestyles take a different approach to risk to the rest of us. The very fact this has been lobbied for, without any patient demand is positive proof of that. The government has made no effort to increase blood donation in recent years. So why this?

Is there an argument for having high risk donors as "extended criteria" donors in extremis, with informed consent? Yes But that isn't want lobbyists want. They want enforced acceptance of high risk lifestyles as normal. They're not. Don't judge but don't impose either

The linkage between sexuality, sexual behaviour and sexual health is a massive and complex subject. But basically with improved HIV treatments and changes in sexual practices among straight people, the restriction on gay blood donors has become redundant
-
No it hasn't. Until a panel of haematologists and virologists convene and make clear there is no increased risk, it is treatment without consent and therefore it is battery.

What an embarrassing comment. Generalising any ‘group’ and arbitrarily labelling them as higher or lower risk is just ridiculous. All blood is thoroughly tested before use. And no groups should be excluded. A few sensible questions will help with the screening process. Silly man.

and yet clinically sound. What is it tested for Hector? Tell me the tests, their sensitivity, specificity and time windows? Indulge me in this magical world where risk is not stratified.
