DNAR has ALWAYS been a clinical decision. Families assist in making that decision by helping up medics weight up patient wishes. No relative can have their wishes above the patients, unless they have power of attorney. If patient loses autonomy the doctors act in their best interests because doctors can be held accountable.

Thanks for explaining. It's best people make their own wishes known in advance then. I'm not sure everyone is aware of these issues.
