Our Emergency Legislation will include provisions to hold Solemn trials without a jury. An unprecedented measure, but made the judgement that it is needed in these extraordinary times. We cannot have accussed held in remand indefinitely awaiting trial. Also cannot have victims
true but very doable without any power grabs. SNP like power grabs.

And this won't be raised as an SNP fail if trials are backed up for a couple of years as a result?
Not saying this decision is the best but seriously instead of bitching maybe come up with a proper solution & not one that will be used as a political baseball bat later on. -
Couple of week, months, years. Each is a separate scenario. Each can be discussed before being proposed in law. That's what parliament is for, discussion.

If the SNP just delay trials indefinitely & cause a massive back up the LDs, Labour & Tories will be the ones using it as a political baseball bat. But you knew that. You don't have to like them to see that this will be used negatively. Oh the virus was 6months ago, a year ago...

Hardly indefinitely. Trials can be postponed months and often are, whether for evidence, or mental health assessment. Acting paranoid won't help anyone's cause. Trials can be postponed. Far better than abolishing trial by jury.
