Yikes. Really hoping this isn’t necessary in UK: if people are able to exercise safely and without coming into contact with others, will be so much better for mental health - and I’d wager that it might help with long-term compliance. https://twitter.com/Jim_Edwards/status/1240986741856755713 …

I don’t understand why it’s necessary? Cycling on your own (without coming in to contact with anyone) surely can’t spread the virus?

Exercise is good but given how ill some people get there is an argument for not being out on your own if you overexert. Tricky balance. I'd certainly be walking about.

Well I guess but then most people make judgements about whether they’re up to exercise when they’ve got respiratory problems anyway. Usually involves us thinking “can I run it off? No I’m an idiot, I should stay in”

Sure, but certainly for pneumocystis pneumonia, patients can desaturate (drop blood oxygen) quite suddenly. There should be some
@PHE_uk advice on this. I'd like to think cycling would be encouraged to keep lungs open but it's tricky. You might get an answer quicker than me :)1 antwoord 0 retweets 1 vind-ik-leuk -
Yes, I think guidance would be great as I also suspect there are a lot of people staying indoors thinking they shouldn’t be going outside at all

I'd definitely walk out and about. Slumping leads to atelectasis and makes pneumonia worse. Sitting in a chair forlorn watching the TV is terrible if you can move even a bit.
