I haven't said much on the "chlorine-washed chicken" debate yet, but isn't it obvious that, provided food & other products meet our safety & quality standards once here, we shld be willing to accept US imports made to US production standards? How's it our business how it's made?
They aren't. Sorry but no EU farmers are. It is whitewash by remainers. No animal welfare org would seriously claim the vast bulk of chicken reared in the single market is significantly more humane. It's an issue of modern farming not just the USA.

I couldn’t care less about the EU. I’m talking about UK, different thing now. High welfare standards come at a cost, we either have them or we don’t. I’m not fussed which to be honest, but all food should be similar standard, unless all you want is low standard, imported food.

Same standards and same market. Like saying you don't care about Lincolnshire and only about Norfolk. The rules and market are the same. All EU raised meat is to a similar standard. That's the point of the single market.
