What is the mire of monolingualism? Sounds like a ENT complaint. You speak the official language of the country or you don't. Belgium has three official languages and a de facto fourth (English). If you tried your luck in FInnish you'd be screwed.https://twitter.com/OliverKamm/status/1230202280294723586 …

Churlishness is a clumsy defence. If you do not speak English in the UK, or perchance Welsh in Wales or Gaelic in the Hebrides, you are not going to be a constructive member of a society.

I’ve just pointed out that Britain doesn’t have an official language. So you’re wrong, aren’t you?

Keep going. It makes you feel better. The public expects migrants to speak the language of society.

Read the tweets. I made no claim for England. I chose a European country with three official languages.
