Clearly important there is zero tolerance of these behaviours. Challenge is that children don’t choose to be born to racist parents. Would also prefer to see initiatives that address causes of racism and anti-social behaviour rather than just addressing their impact.https://twitter.com/bmj_latest/status/1229790233203544064 …

No Damian. There is “no challenge”. You make it clear to the parents what’s acceptable. And the child is theirs.

Of course - but I can’t not treat the child and it’s very difficult to remove parents leaving child alone (applies to non-emergency too) As per the last point; I’m not disagreeing with this policy. I just wish it wasn’t the only policy on this area.

For a non emergency, I think you can. I would do so if the request was to see a BAME doctor only. Why can’t you? You say to parents- they can’t choose the doctor - and then theirs to make the call in a non emergency situation Not that tricky

We want respect. Fine. We are not entitled to eloquence and fine manners. The people are as they are and thats how they are treated. Social ranking of worthy cases isn't an avenue professions should go down. If a crime is committed, prosecute. Do not seek to be judge and jury.

Just be lucky who ever treats you are all professional wonder people...all a team, you don’t get to pick because.. why should you . Behave.

Correct. As professionals we should just get on with it and leave prosecution to those best qualified and authorised. In a tax funded NHS luck is a very bad healthcare output

No judgment needed for racism... you can’t say I don’t want the doctor/ nurse because of their race/sex that’s not cricket. This is why this system is in place to exclude this disgusting behaviour...

No it is because as a profession we have not taken the lead on education and comms. This policy is retreat. When was the last public information film or any initiative that was profession led to engage the public? The only moral high ground is initiative.

Google racism and unexceptionable behaviour online... What more do you need...?

It's dogmatic and didactic. The idea this approach will end well is disturbing. If professions cannot lead by engagement they'll lose, and badly.
