Yeah, there have been stories of this nature bobbing around for years. It’s what we call a hardly perennial. I can’t remember any senior politician ever entertaining this kind of stuff before. That’s the new bit.

I guess whether Johnson is serious is a matter of opinion. But he’s definitely senior. Unfairly perhaps, as a hack, I would use support for this jobs of thing as being a short cut for deciding whether a politician is an idiot or not. Luckily we don’t have many idiots.

1. Who will maintain a unionist bridge and with what funds? Devolved admins?? 2. Who will use it once petrol and diesel cars are banned? 3. How do you rescue people from a jacknifed lorry accident 10 miles along the bridge? 4. Opportunity costs for investment in D&G and NI.
