We don't. The UK is unique in western Europe. Germany, France, Belgium, Netherlands have privately run public and insurance funded healthcare

Yeah 100/month is on the extreeeeeemely low end of premiums in the US, and only if you have a really good employer-sponsored plan. Most are at minimum double to triple that. And our out of pocket maximums (even with good insurance) are 10-20 times yours.
