No, simply put, it's a dumb metaphor. As I said to your pal, maybe take a glance at how economic stimulus works, that would be a good start for you cerebrally challenged folks.

There isn’t much economic stimulus in Scotland. Its growth rate is below even the anaemic UK growth rate. So much for all those hubs and investment banks the SNP has established. At great cost.

Scotland's growth rate, according to current figures, is exactly the same as the rUK's. I'd urge caution on paying any attention to factual claims from some of our less nuanced internet partisans. https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-scotland-scotland-business-48689507 …

Yes. Who could or would argue against investment in the V&A as being anything but a good thing for Dundee? No one is suggesting it's the answer to a drug problem, but economic investment is part of what is required.

We have relatively high levels of drug abuse in Scotland. Often the victims of this will have suffered problems in their childhood and these tend to be exacerbated by economic problems. A fairly large number of current drugs dead grew up in the recessions of the last century,

Shouldn’t the question “how to we stop people wanting to take drugs?” As opposed to “why do we have so many drug deaths?” Feels like a societal issue as opposed to one of pinning blame on legislatures.

We tend to know a lot about why people take drugs (for which there is no simple fix) and a lot about what stops people who take drugs from dying. There are policy and legislative responses to both those things. There are also non-policy and legislative responses.

Funding cute by 25% by Holyrood. Minimum unit pricing of alcohol is possibly displacing alcohol I'm favour of other drugs by addicts.

Addicts graduate to alcohol as they age. Drugs are substituted. Alcohol too expensive? Street benzos become more attractive and benzo/opiate combo is lethal
