I cannot agree with those who say the deal is worse than Remain. Forget about any "exit clause", if we Remain now, Brexiteers will never be allowed even so much as a sniff of the exit door for a generation or more. Wait for EU Referendum 2059? No thanks.

The backstop is a nightmare but it is clearly not a sustainable agreement - it will break down sooner than that, exit clause or not. The UK may still be in the EU's orbit but at least we'll be out of the political structures - wasn't this always one of the key goals of Brexit?

For as long as there is no mechanism to leave unilaterally it is not a deal. Hoping for it to somehow "breakdown" is naïve. The EU does not do breakdown. It does coercion of the minor player. Always has and will.
