Why are Brexiters so desperate to push the lie about GATT Article 24?
A WTO terms exit was supposed to be fine, remember.

It is a) what happens if there is no deal, b) a disaster for the UK (and Ireland), and c) not great for Europe either. More here: http://brexitdb.com/db?tag=103

Article 24 of GATT is a WTO Brexit. That's all. To say otherwise is inaccurate.

The claim often made by Leave supporters is that Art. 24 permits continued trade on current terms for 10 years - i.e. that WTO terms does not result in worse trade conditions with the EU under 'no deal'. The claim is false: it does no such thing - and is not applicable anyway.

I have made no such claim. Nor has its proponent
@DCBMEP. As the bulk of a minimalist FTA it is applicable. It is a stop gap, superior to no deal.1 antwoord 0 retweets 0 vind-ik-leuks -

I'm not ascribing the claim to you personally. However - as many experts have pointed out - Art. 24 has no relevance to the UK / Brexit case at all. A total nonstarter.

That simply isn't true. A minimalist FTA would support it. To be tested, not dismissed casually
