An argument to proceed to treat with life saving intent does not follow on to abortion on demand.

The treatment for pregnant women with mental ill health is mental healthcare. To abort without that is to carry out a procedure when the capacity of the woman to give informed consent is unclear. That is indirect discrimination.

Correct. Yet 98% of abortions are carried out for that indication; the mental health of the pregnant woman. All without objective assessment because ending a life is more important than healing one.

Evidence does not support this, nor that abortion per se causes long term mental health problems over and above prior poor mental health. There is no objective assessment of a pregnant woman's mental health before abortion; a gross failure of care and of trust.

It is a duty of care for any doctor to investigate health problems prior to administering any procedure especially one that ends life. There is no excuse not to perform a mental health assessment. A woman with nihilistic depression or mania needs mental health care first
