There is an arrogance and delusion that cannot be shaken. That to many in Ireland, a united Ireland seems fair enough, political union with Germany is fine but mention Ireland returning to the UK and they melt down.

How did it fair out for the native Irish the last time Ireland was in the union? Not too good was it? Even up to the 70's the Irish were holding civil rights marches in Northern Ireland due to being treated as 2nd class citizens in their own land.

Native Irish? How far back does that go? Most of Scotland is of Irish descent. Is that how you see the UK? Back in the 70s???

Do you see Germans in the 1940s? Italians in the 1920s?

Anyway you're deflecting... how were the Irish treated by the British? The Gaels now, not the planters.

By landlords, very badly. As was the case across the islands. Feudal landlords are shite. That does not define any part of me or other in the UK today.

It was alot more than that. There's was a strong sense of Hibernophobia coming from the British for the past 600 years. It's still there in alot of places.
