This is inhumane. My friend @TulipSiddiq should not have to do this.
Democracy is not properly served by this kind of cruelty. Theresa May could show compassion and allow Tulip to be nodded through.
#proxyvoting is long overdue.https://www.standard.co.uk/news/politics/labour-mp-tulip-siddiq-delays-caesarean-for-brexit-vote-a4037946.html?amp&__twitter_impression=true …

Postponing a C section for two days is hardly risky. No doctor will advise anyone to do it, does not follow that it's harmful. Granted it makes for a great story, and maybe that's the point.

It isn't solely a case of whether it's risky or not. She shouldn't have to be wheeled through Parliament in a wheelchair whilst she's supposed to be on maternity leave because our system's too bloody outdated to allow a proxy vote.

So what's the point here? What's the issue. She is elected as a MP. As a PR stunt it works of course, but the idea postponing an elective c section for 2 days is a big thing is nonsense.

So MPs shouldn't get maternity leave?

Not an issue to be forced at the eve of a massively significant constituional vote.

If it wasn't a significant vote she wouldn't be postponing the birth. That's literally the point.

No it isn't. An elective c section is booked in, by its nature. It is simply not a big thing.
